STUDIO WORKSHOP
RAMAN CONSTRUCTION, AUROVILLE
Our small workshop in the center of Auroville is a multi-functional space with two levels approximately 70sqm in total area with an abundance of light, this office was restarted by Raman in 2015. Its enveloped from all sides in the thick plantation with greens flooding inside the office through almost transparent enclosures of the office space.
The ground floor functions as the office and we spend most of the time in this inspiring enclosure interacting, sketching, designing, discussing, meeting, progressing and learning. The upper floor is open from all sides and we are developing it as space for us to discover inner passions and put them into action. The open plan leaves us with all the options to play with.
This small office functions more like a family and with Raman’s presence it becomes an interesting experience to work and learn while having fun. The occasional stories from the adventurous past of Auroville makes one feel connected with the place, there's a spiritual environment which keeps the workplace positive and occasional walks to the coffee place leads to deep discussions about life
There are small work sheds with building material and equipment scattered around the office where one can go and study and get acquainted with the tools which are used to realize the design. It gives a scope for development of a connection between the virtual and physical.

ABOUT AUROVILLE
MOTHER'S VISION AND OUR MISSION
"Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual human unity." - The Mother
Mother envisioned Auroville as a place on earth which no nation could claim as its own, where all human beings of goodwill who have a sincere aspiration could live freely as citizens of the world and obey one single authority, that of the supreme Truth; a place of peace, concord and harmony where all the fighting instincts of man would be used exclusively to conquer the causes of his sufferings and miseries, to surmount his weaknesses and ignorance, to triumph over his limitations and in-capacities; a place where the needs of the spirit and the concern for progress would take precedence over the satisfaction of desires and passions, the search for pleasure and material enjoyment.
THE AUROVILLE CHARTER
-
Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But, to live in Auroville, one must be a willing servitor of the divine consciousness.
-
Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages.
-
Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future. Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towards future realisations.
-
Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual human unity.
